Nostalgia 77 has been steadily building up a great following and critical acclaim for his new and fresh approach to Jazz music. This is the first release from the live incarnation of the project; The Nostalgia 77 Octet. Hitting you with amazing musicianship, alongside great song writing, this is a remix of a track from the upcoming "Sevens & Eight album which was recorded live at the Jazz Cafe, London with Ben "Nostalgia 77" Lamdin and Mike Pelanconi (who was responsible for the reggae/dub version of Prince Fatty recently released by Stussy on 7) on the remix duties.
The original track gets taken into Jazz Dance territory via outer space. To all the DJ‚ you need two copies of this to get the full effect‚ all about Part 1 AND Part 2 for pure dancefloor destroying action.
The album will be released on Monday 30th January 2006 (and in December in Japan on P Vine Records). As well as six full length live tracks, it also features for the first time on CD all 18 minutes of the critically acclaimed Nostalgia 77 track The Hope Suite (Parts1,2,3) described by Gilles Peterson as one of the best tracks of 2005.
Like Mercury Prize nominees Polar Bear, Nostalgia 77 explore a certain ignored strain of British Jazz. Time Out
