Nostalgia 77 is an avid funk collector and hip hop enthusiast who unites both these styles on this, his debut release. "Brother" has crisp beats combined with a funky bassline, horns and sung vocal stabs to form a contagious little club rocker. "Lamplight" has a more organic downbeat feel with brooding horns and subtle piano, with the scratching coming courtesy of fellow Tru Thoughts funkateer Natural-Self. This is one of those funky seven inches that at first sounds like some Seventies rare groove find, but is actually much stronger and more dubby than anything made that long ago. Its dirty, raw dance music for dark, sweaty basements...it's no overstatement to say that this release is a straight up dancefloor destroyer.
