Since the release of Alice Russell's 'My Favourite Letters' LP, the demand for her music has increased at a pace that Tru Thoughts have (at times) found hard up to keep up with. Before Christmas we were repressing the album every few days to keep up with orders!
'A Fly In The Hand' was the track we had the most requests to release. Combining Alice's belting vocals, the mother of all squelchy basslines and TM Juke's razor-sharp production, this is undoubtedly the sound of 21st Century soulful funk.
The 12" included Clean, Instrumental and A Capella cuts, a dusty hip hop remix by DJ Vadim and (as a special treat) this version of 'Hurry On Now' from 'Under The Munka Moon' [TRULP/CD046] by the Dirty Diggers, who have earned the respect of Hip Hop Connection and Steve Lamacq for their tight beats, lyrical dexterity and arresting live shows.
